Retired Air National Guard member announces candidacy, hopes to unseat county Commissioner Al French | The Spokesman-Review

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Molly Marshall has served her Country and now she's ready to serve as your next County Commissioner!

 

I’m running for county commissioner because our neighbors, our families, and our quality of life must come first. Serious public safety issues are putting county residents at risk every day and it’s time for the county to have a representative that serves for the people.

 

Most of my life has been dedicated to service. For 30 years, I had the privilege to serve our country and state as a member of the Washington Air National Guard. After retirement, I continued to serve my neighborhood and community by getting involved. I joined my neighborhood council after understanding that if I wanted change, I had to engage and be part of the solution. It became evident that many other neighborhoods shared the same issues and so I co-founded a community group to tackle these problems. In the last two and a half years our group has become a voice for many neighborhoods, facilitating collaboration between state, county, and city departments and elected officials. It is now clear to me that neighborhood and local issues are often regional and tied to decisions at all levels. It is imperative that we have a new leader for District 5 who is determined to address the issues of our community.

 

For over 10 years, the resident’s voice in District 5 has been absent. Special interests have dominated decisions leaving our community fractured and powerless. We now have a choice for a better future where our community’s needs and safety are the priority.

 

I am a leader that respects others, works to find solutions, and I am known as a tenacious problem solver. To move forward, the district will require someone that can bring the region together to collaborate, participate, and commit on issues including wildfire, PFAS, flooding, crime prevention, and transportation infrastructure. With responsible development, we CAN create a community that will thrive and be a safe place for its residents.
